IRELAND fans have reacted to former Boys in Green star Jason McAteer's snub of new movie Saipan - by questioning the need to revisit the drama.

- BY SEAN MURPHY

It was 23 years ago that captain Roy Keane accused FAI management of being sloppy with the team's 2002 World Cup preparations on Japanese island Saipan.

It was claimed that hard training pitches risked causing injury to players and complaints were also made about basic equipment sucjh as bibs, balls and cones.

Keane, whose performances helped get Ireland to the World Cup, then left the training camp - sparking a huge rift among fans at home.

One responded to the first trailer of the new movie by posting online: "The civil war is coming back."
