AN Irish HGV driver was crushed to death by falling rolls of textile membrane a few years before he was planning to retire, an inquest heard yesterday.

HGV driver crushed by textile rolls

George Tracey, 57, was helping unload the heavy 3.5-tonne cylinder-shaped rolls, used in groundwork, from the side of a wagon at a depot in Irlam, Salford, UK on November 11, 2021.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at JC Gillespie Ltd on Sorby Road.
