James set to add to family fame as he preps for sporting career
-
PROPOSED PO BRENDAN Grace's grandson James Gillespie's professional golf dream is about to tee off into the big time - as he prepares to start his university phase in the game.
The 18-year-old will shortly embark upon his collegiate golf studies at Keiser University in Florida's West Palm Beach after blazing a trail on the courses of Boston, where he has lived for most of his life.
Playing off a handicap of four, James' immediate aim is to hit scratch but his long-term ambition is to one day rub shoulders with Irish legends Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy.
James - the son of Brendan's daughter Melanie and her husband Frank Gillespie - said: "I've been inspired to chase my professional golf dream by Shane and Rory and the success they have enjoyed.
"And if I ever make it as a pro golfer on the tour then to somehow emulate them by playing in a Ryder Cup would be incredible.
