'Fearless advocate' Sr Stan dies

PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins has led tributes to Sr Stanislaus Kennedy, saying she was a “fearless advocate for human rights and equality”.
The Focus Ireland founder, 86, died yesterday morning after a short time at the St Francis Hospice in Blanchards-town.
President Higgins said: “Sister Stan, as she was so affectionately known, was a deeply committed campaigner for the vulnerable and marginalised in our society, and a fearless advocate for human rights and equality.
"Telling the truth of inequality required a woman of immense courage and vision. She was that. I had the privilege of meeting with her on many occasions over the years.
