MCINROY SINGS PRAISES OF MAN HE FIRST MET AS A CELTIC YOUTH
DAMIEN DUFF played the long game in his pursuit of Kerr McInroy, the former Celtic prospect has revealed.
Duff coached the Scot during his time with the Bhoys, where he served as a coach both with the reserves and first-team.
And the fact that he kept in touch with McInroy after the pair's brief spell working together in Glasgow helped convince the midfielder to move to Tolka Park in January.
McInroy detailed the efforts by Duff (right) to bring him over to the League of Ireland prior to January's successful swoop.
The former Scotland Under-21 international has featured in all five of the reigning champions’ Premier Division games so far.
He said: "I got on really well with him when we worked together at Celtic. He is obviously different now that he is a manager but he is still the same great person and everyone loves him.
"We always got on really well when he was my coach for that short period of time, so I have always kept in contact with him since, here and there. He has actually tried to get me over to Shelbourne a couple of times but for whatever reason it never really happened.
