Morrissey says winning Munster final away from home would be huge for Limerick's legacy
DAN Morrissey has six Munster medals tucked away at home - but admits Sunday's showdown with Cork offers the chance to land the one he has always wanted most.
Because for all Limerick’s dominance over the past decade, this golden generation have never won a Munster final on enemy territory.
That could finally change this weekend when John Kiely's side head to a sold-out Pairc Ui Chaoimh for another heavyweight clash with their great rivals.
And veteran defender Morrissey says lifting silverware in Leeside would make this triumph extra special.
Not only because it would end Cork's recent upper hand in the rivalry but because it would re-establish Limerick as the team to beat after losing last year’s Munster final on penalties before watching Tipperary go on to win the All-Ireland.
“To be honest, whether you're at home, away or a neutral venue, a Munster win is a Munster win - it's special,” said Morrissey.
“But yeah, to win down there on Sunday would be huge.
There's going to be a big Limerick crowd there too, so its not like it'll be a stadium full of Cork supporters.
