Woman's Husband Found Corpse Dressed in a Sari and Anklet, a Plot to Fool Them into Thinking That the Woman Had Been Killed, Police Said
PATAN: A woman and her boyfriend allegedly killed a 56-year-old man and dressed his corpse with her clothes before setting it on fire to fake her death, police said on Wednesday, adding both accused have been arrested.
Police said the half-burnt body of the victim was found outside the residence of Sureshbhai Ahir in Jakhotra village of Patan district in Gujarat on Monday night. They added that the body was dressed in a sari and anklet, initially misleading investigators to believe that the body was of a woman.
"When we recovered the half-burnt body near Sureshbhai's residence, it was draped in women's clothes," Patan superintendent of police Vasant Nayi said. They also noticed that Sureshbhai's wife Geetaben (22) was missing, suggesting that the body was likely hers.
