|April 08, 2025
Tahawwur Rana, a conspirator in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, will soon face justice in India, with the US Supreme Court denying a plea filed by him before the court of chief justice of the US, John G Roberts Jr, seeking an emergency stay on his extradition to India.
NEW DELHI:
The National Investigation Agency hopes to get from Rana, information about the exact role of conspirators based in Pakistan, officials in Pakistan army and the country's spy agency ISI who oversaw and funded the terror attack.
NIA expects US authorities to soon convey to it the date of Rana's extradition. Currently lodged at the metropolitan detention centre at Los Angeles, Rana will be handed over to NIA by the FBI on a day agreed upon by both sides.
The US Supreme Court on January 21 rejected Rana's plea against extradition to India and his surrender to NIA was approved by the Donald Trump administration during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Washington.
