SBI Beats Profit View on Healthy Loan Growth

State Bank of India, the country's largest lender by assets, reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit on Thursday driven by strong loan growth.
BENGALURU/MUMBAI:
The state-run lender reported a net profit of ₹16,891 crore ($1.93 billion) in the third quarter, compared with ₹9,164 crore a year ago.
Analysts, on average, were expecting a profit of ₹16,472 crore, according to data compiled by LSEG.
