Vinay Kumar Singh, head of the Jharkhand Karni Sena and national vice-president of the body representing the Rajput community, was shot dead in Jamshedpur city on Sunday night, police said on Monday, adding that they were trying to identify those behind the crime.

According to police, the body of the 46-year-old was found with bullet wounds to the head near a temporary road close to Gaurgora village, 200 metres from the Mini Punjab Hotel, around 10 pm on Sunday.
His location was traced through his mobile phone. He had left his house in Aastha Space Town (Mango) on his scooty around 10:30 am on Sunday. Police recovered his scooty, a pistol that appeared to have been placed in his hands after death, and his mobile phone from the crime scene.
