JAMSHEDPUR: The Jamshedpur regional office of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) arrested two Ranchi-based traders on charges of GST evasion worth ₹50 crore through input tax credit benefits in lieu of bogus transactions worth ₹250 crore via fake invoices and about a dozen shell companies, officials close to the development said on Wednesday.

"Ranchi-based Amaron battery franchisee Kumar Luv Agrawal and old battery trader Gul Bahar Malik were arrested on Tuesday evening on charges of GST evasion of ₹50 crore through input tax credit (ITC) in lieu of fake invoices worth ₹250 crore and about a dozen shell companies. Gul Bahar Malik alone has evaded ₹10 crore in GST. At the same time, Luv Agrawal, along with a few more businessmen, has caused a loss of ₹40 crore in GST to the government exchequer," a senior DGGI official told HT on Wednesday.
