Infiltration to be BJP’s key Bengal poll plank

Union home minister Amit Shah continued his attack against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal over rising “infiltration” across the India-Bangladesh border, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders said on Wednesday, adding that the issue is likely to bea key plank for the party in the run up to the 2026 state assembly elections.
Shah, who arrived in Kolkata on Monday evening, has helda series of meetings with BJP leaders and ‘workers over the past two days. On ‘Wednesday, he held an organisational meeting with senior BJP leaders in a hotel and later addressed a gathering of BJP workers inan auditorium in Kolkata.
“Shah has made itclear that the issue of infiltration is likely to be made a key poll plank of the party ahead of the 2026 assembly elections,” a senior BJP leader who attended the meeting said on condition of anonymity.
