There's growing chatter around the global film industry's increasing dependence on franchises, sequels and cinematic universes in the pursuit of box office success.
Bollywood, too, has followed suit— this year alone, over 10 franchise films have either hit, or will hit the marquee.
Even the OTT space, once celebrated for its experimental storytelling, is seeing a surge in followup seasons. With creators often cashing in on the popularity of original titles, one wonders —are we compromising on fresh narratives?
