Death Penalty Soon For Forced Conversions

Hindustan Times Lucknow

March 09, 2025

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav said on Saturday that his government would bring a law to ensure death penalty for those found guilty of forced religious conversions along the lines of punishment for rape of minors.

- Shruti Tomar

BHOPAL:

Addressing an event to mark the International Women's Day in Bhopal, Yadav said that the government is "very strict against those who rape innocent daughters. A provision for the death penalty has been made in this regard as our government is not going to spare those who rape girls by force or by luring. We don't want to give them a chance to live at any cost".

In a post on X, too, he said: "In Madhya Pradesh, the Religious Freedom Act is already in force to take strict action against those who force or lure people into marriage and conversion. Our government will not tolerate any incident of conversion or misconduct."
