{ INDIA PLAYS KEY ROLE } LVK scientists detect collision of black holes
Hindustan Times Jaipur
|July 17, 2025
MUMBAI: Scientists have detected the collision of two massive black holes, each several dozen times larger than the Sun, a space crash that formed an even larger black hole, sending ripples through the gravitational ripples of spacetime.
The event left scientists from the Ligo-Virgo-Kagra (LVK) group that observed it with a raft of questions and challenged extant theories of the formation of black holes, which are astronomical objects with gravitational pulls so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape.
