The Rajasthan education department on Monday postponed its controversial Sarthak ‘Naam Abhiyaan programme that aimed to change school students’ names that it considered unclear, inappropriate or carrying negative meanings.

“The campaign is postponed for now. We will see if it could be implemented later,” a senior official from education minister Madan Dilawar’s office said, refusing to comment on the reason behind the decision.
