Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday took a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders visiting the Maha Kumbh to take a dip in the Sangam, triggering sharp responses from the ruling party which accused him of making a "mockery" of people's reverence.

At the "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan" rally in Mhow town of Madhya Pradesh, Kharge alleged that BJP leaders were competing with each other to take a dip "for the cameras". He, however, apologised for hurting anyone.
