India May Import More Fertiliser From US To Narrow Trade Gap

India may source a portion of about $10 billion fertiliser imports and some inputs for domestic production from the US along with other items like energy and precious metals as trade-diversion is an option to address America's key concern over growing bilateral trade imbalance, people in the know said.
NEW DELHI:
Bilateral trade deficit is the basis of reciprocal tariffs calculated by the Trump administration and the solution lies in two mechanisms — greater market access to American goods in India by lowering tariff and non-tariff barriers, and source essential imports from the US instead of other countries.
