A remark by Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal, comparing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Tipu Sultan, triggered a major political row in the state with the ruling BJP slamming Sapkal and a functionary lodging an FIR against him in Pune.
Sapkal was speaking to reporters in Buldhana on the controversy over the portrait of Tipu Sultan in the office of Malegaon Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Shane-Hind Nihal Ahmed.
