Govt Approves Greater Bengaluru Governance Act

The Legislation Allows for the Creation of Up to Ten Independent City Corporations
BENGALURU: Karnataka Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to officially notify the existing jurisdiction under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) as the 'Greater Bengaluru Area'.
The cabinet has yet to finalize the effective date for the enforcement of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act. Additionally, the notification for the appointment of administrative officers will also be revised.
"This is a procedural but necessary move to ensure the law is legally and functionally in force," said law and parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil.
