'Cong decision on caste survey bid to divert from stampede'

The BJP on Wednesday accused the Congress government of using the caste re-enumeration as a political distraction to divert attention from public anger over the stampede that killed 11 people during a recent RCB event in Bengaluru.
BENGALURU:
The Opposition party also demanded the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah and sought an apology over the now-scrapped caste census report.
"The decision to conduct a fresh caste survey is nothing but an attempt to shift focus away from the tragedy that unfolded during the RCB victory celebrations. The Congress is trying to protect the CM instead of owning up to its failure," V Sunil Kumar, BJP leader and former minister, told reporters.
