|March 05, 2026
A motorist has successfully fought off a £170 penalty issued at a Hartlepool car park after an 18-month long battle with the parking company.
Paul Barton with the letter confirming the parking company is no longer pursuing him against one of the newer parking signs.
Paul Barton refused to pay the penalty charge he was given after using the Belle Vue Way shopping parade in August 2024.
He challenged the penalty by arguing the wording on signage in the car park was incorrect as it was subsequently changed.
Mr Barton was set to contest the charge in court later this month.
But legal representatives acting for the company Parking Group Limited wrote to him saying the case had been dropped.
