AN ELDERLY dog was attacked by a dog that is regularly left to “roam the streets” in a town centre.

- ELLIE GOSLEY Reporter

Mickey, an 18-year-old Bichon Frise, was left with “serious puncture wounds” and needed multiple trips to the vet after an off-lead dog “came out of nowhere” and “grabbed him”.

It is not the first time that the Shar Pei-type dog has tried to attack Mickey as well as other dogs in Porth town centre, say locals.

Several police vehicles attended the scene near Hannah Street in Rhondda Cynon Taf at 4.40pm on Wednesday, April 16, after the attack.

It is understood that the dog has since been returned to its owner.

Mickey's owner, Andrea Griffiths, 53, said: “I was just taking my dog out and had only just left my flat, when out of nowhere the dog came over and grabbed Mickey. It was growling and scraping its paws. I was in complete shock.”
