THE UK's largest port operator has become the latest Grimsby business to invest in the region's young people after signing up to a pioneering charity programme.

- By COREENA FORD

Associated British Ports (ABP) has become Founder Patrons of Horizon Youth Zone, a growing group of firms, organisations and philanthropists who are contributing to the independent charity's annual running costs.

As reported last weekend, Grimsby's Horizon Youth Zone has now officially opened its doors to grand fanfare, offering a safe, inspiring place for young people.

Based in the heart of Grimsby, opposite Freshney Place, Horizon Youth Zone is based within the beautifully restored and repurposed Grade II listed West Haven Maltings and Migar House.

As one of the OnSide Network of 18 Youth Zones nationwide, it offers over 20 activities every night for just 50p per visit, to young people aged between eight and 19, as well as those up to 25 years old with additional needs, giving them somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
