The sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has sparked intense speculation and political chatter in New Delhi’s power corridors.
Officially attributed to health reasons, sources with knowledge of the developments have indicated that the resignation stemmed from a confluence of factors — only some of which were health-related. According to insiders, Dhankhar had been contemplating resignation for several weeks, and one close associate had hinted just a week ago that a decision was imminent. However, at the time, Dhankhar had not yet fixed the date or timing of the announcement. It was a sequence of events in the Rajya Sabha on Monday that reportedly triggered his final decision, leading him to step down from his constitutional post in a fit of quiet displeasure.
