Leaseholders allowed to continue operations as SC amends previous order

In a major relief to around 4,800 small mining leaseholders in Rajasthan, the Supreme Court has amended its November 12, 2023 order, allowing the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) to consider re-evaluation applications submitted after the three-week deadline.
The court noted that the delay was due to the delayed reconstitution of SEIAA and not the fault of applicants. The ruling permits the Rajasthan Granit
