Call on health insurer stake deal by month end: LIC chief

LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION of India (LIC) is likely to announce the acquisition of stake in a standalone health insurance company by the end of the current fiscal, managing director and chief executive officer Siddhartha Mohanty said on Tuesday.
"Discussions are at the final stage. It is a natural choice for LIC to enter health insurance... Since regulatory approvals take time, I am hopeful that a decision will be taken within this fiscal," Mohanty said on the sidelines of the Global Conference of Actuaries in Mumbai. He clarified that LIC will not acquire a majority stake in the company under consideration.
