Indian carriers cancel 750 flights in 2 days, thousands stranded
AS THE WAR raged in West Asia — a key transit hub for flights to Europe and the US — Indian carriers cancelled around 750 international services on Saturday and Sunday, with more cancellations expected through the week.
Globally, thousands of flights were disrupted, leaving scores of passengers stranded, as Iranian air strikes kept major West Asian airports, including Dubai — the world’s busiest international hub — closed on Sunday.
The disruptions — one of the sharpest aviation shocks in recent years — come at a time Indian carriers have been reeling under prolonged closure of airspaces over Pakistan, Russia and Ukraine.
