AS there ever been more twaddle written by fashionistas about any article of women's clothing or accessories than that written about... the handbag?

- JUDI SPIERS

Well, yes alright, you're probably thinking 'shoes' and I'd agree but that's for another week.

I've recently started getting monthly copies of a 'high end' fashion magazine, which I only get because it's a so called 'perk' from my bank. I say 'perk. The magazine sells for £4.80, and the bank has just announced that unless I put £2,000 per month in my account there'll be a monthly charge of £5. I've got a better idea. Keep the magazine and drop my monthly charges! Anyway, back to bags.

Hot on the heels of the recent 'fashion' for mis-matched earrings, which actually is not a bad idea I suppose if, like me, you always lose one... there's mis-matching shoes. Just plain daft. But now even dafter comes, "Why carry one handbag when you can carry two?"

Apparently, 'street style stars' (whatever they are), and Instagram influencers have championed this, suggesting that by varying the shapes, sizes and fabrics it creates a certain 'whimsy'!
