The announcement comes with Liverpool five points clear at the top of the League table and still in three cup competitions after reaching the final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday - Klopp's eighth showpiece with the club.

The German has revolutionised the Reds since being named head coach in October 2015, leading them to three Champions League Finals - lifting the trophy in 2019 and ending their 30-year wait for a league title in 2022.

He has also won the FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Super Cup, as well as the FA Community Shield.
