The Doonhamers lose No.1 spot after a lacklustre show against East Fife

Queens were knocked off the top of the table as they turned in a lacklustre performance against East Fife at Bayview.

Dick Campbell’s men made a return to league one in the summer via the playoffs and it was them who made a strong start to the game when Tommy Goss, on loan from Annan, fired over early on.

The home side looked hungry and as Michael McKenna played a free-kick into the box, Nathan Austin just couldn’t get his head on it.

Mikey Hewitt and Kurtis Guthrie both headed clear as they created chances from corners into the danger area.

The Fifers were on top and as they won yet another corner, Ross Stewart had to collect.

Queens were struggling to get going and as Jack Stott collected the ball at the edge of the box, his effort was too high.

Taylor Charters then burst forward from his own half and tried to find Benji Luissint but the ball fell behind.
