Cemetery car park's new lease of life

A Dumfriesshire cemetery has had its rundown car park transformed thanks to the efforts of two local men.

Zye Rogerson and Stuart Turnbull set to work after seeing how anyone visiting St Blane's Cemetery, on the outskirts of Locharbriggs, Dumfries, faced getting their vehicles and feet covered in mud and debris.

Parking bays caked in mud and overgrown verges have all been cleaned and trimmed back, while the sandstone dyke has been power-washed and freed of the unsightly moss and weeds.

And their efforts has not gone unnoticed by the delighted local community, mourners attending funerals and visitors paying their graveside respects.
