Dumfries is gearing up for Scotland's only dedicated drumming festival.

- SHARON LIPTROTT

Dumfries Drum Day will offer live performances, workshops, hands-on activities, and inspiration for all ages on Saturday, September 27, in the Loreburn Hall.

Session drummer and educator, Bob Irving, said: “The day is set to bring young people from across Dumfries and Galloway and beyond to unite and celebrate their love for the instrument.

“Whether you’re a seasoned percussionist, a total beginner, or just love a good groove, this event brings the local and national drumming scene together in one unforgettable celebration.

“Set in the heart of Dumfries, the festival blends big stage energy with grassroots creativity and champions young talent, local artists, and the power of rhythm to bring people together.

“With support from local youth initiative Up Yer Airts, this is set to be a memorable day for young musicians in Dumfries and Galloway with performances, workshops and activities to suit all ages — and an evening performance from successful Glasgow music project, corto.alto.
