THE PLACES MOST RELIANT ON PIP

The number of people receiving PIP in each constituency
THE government's plans to tackle welfare through disability payments will be felt more harshly in some parts of the country than in others.
Labour has faced a huge backlash to its plans to reform welfare, particularly with its planned cuts to Personal Independence Payments, or PIPs for short.
The number of people in receipt of PIP has soared since the pandemic, with one in 10 working-age people in England and Wales now receiving the benefit.
Some parts of the country, however, are far more reliant on PIP, with almost a quarter of people aged between 16 and 64 in one constituency on the benefit.
A total of 14,697 people in the Liverpool Walton constituency are in receipt of PIP, according to the latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions.
That works out as 23% of the working-age population, which is the highest proportion of any parliamentary constituency in England and Wales.
