MOTHER OF VICTIM FOUND MESSAGES ON SNAPCHAT AND REPORTED TO AUTHORITIES
A MAN who sent sexually explicit messages to an eight-year-old girl has been jailed after officers appealed his initial community order sentence on the grounds that it was “unduly lenient”.
Anthony Sheppard, 61, connected with the girl, who he initially believed was 13, on Snapchat and asked her to send photos of herself to him.
He also sent her pornographic images and continued to message her even after she told him she was eight and not 13.
The girl’s mother found the message and reported them to police, who traced the account to Sheppard and arrested him. His phone was seized and was found to contain an extreme pornographic image.
