LATE THREE-POINTER GIVES NOTTINGHAM THE EDGE

FOR the second game in succession, Derby Trailblazers were effectively beaten by a three-pointer shot with less than 40 seconds left.

It put Nottingham 91-89 ahead and sent the Blazers into something of a frenzy. Despite a timeout, they were unable to get a shot away and were called for a 24 second violation instead.

With three fouls to give, Derby then had to foul repeatedly, with Michah Savery-Richards eventually being sent to the line for two free-throws with seven seconds left.

The veteran guard missed both shots but Raheem May-Thompson grabbed a crucial defensive rebound to give the Blazers hope.

Suddenly, it was Hoods’ turn to foul and Evan Oliver was sent to the line for a chance to tie the game. The American had already converted nine out of 10 free-throws, so hopes were high that Derby could send the game into overtime.

While the first shot swished through the hoop, the second bounced around the rim before crashing down into the arms of Savery-Richards.
