Easter is not about chocolates

I DON'T have any kids. It's not by choice, but instead of cursing my luck, I am beginning to think that maybe I'm the lucky one.

And the problem isn't with kids - they are delightful. The problem is raising them in a world that turns everything into profit. Take Easter weekend for example.

Explaining to a little one that it is not just a long weekend - when, if you are lucky you get to go away, or have family come to visit - and that it's not about an egg hunt, an Easter Bunny, or whatever the world is selling, is quite challenging, I assume.

It's the same problem I have with Christmas. Ask any five-year-old whose "birthday" it is on Christmas Day and he or she will probably tell you "Father Christmas".

My gripe is that the world has turned my religion into a profit-making business and I'm not happy with it. I love those marshmallows with the chocolate, but I will buy them once the Holy Week is over.

So what is Easter then?

Lemme paint the picture first, before I tell you what it means to me.

Jesus' final act before He entered Jerusalem on a donkey for the final week of His life was to heal two blind men by touching their eyes to open them.
