Why my No1 airline deserves high praise

As a travel writer, I've been lucky enough to fly with an extensive list of airlines, from budget to long-haul, and have racked up a catalogue of flights over the past 30 years with the likes of Ryanair, easyJet, Air France, British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air Canada, Delta Airlines and AirAsia.

However one recent flight saw me try a new airline - and for me, it beats all the others. A bold statement, but one I stand by.

Virgin Atlantic hugely impressed me during a 10-hour flight from London Heathrow to Las Vegas.

My positive experience began as soon as I boarded the plane: the cabin crew were beaming with smiles and genuinely welcoming, which carried through to the in-flight service when they were attentive and appeared to enjoy their job.

What struck me as I went to find my seat was the colourful hues of purple and red lights that decorated the cabin.
