We make a lot of fuss about luck, us humans.

The phenomenon has perplexed and fascinated us since the dawn of time.

We put a lot of faith in it.

We credit it often when things go right.

Or are more likely to blame bad luck when things go wrong.

Like the footie boss Ian Holloway who once felt he was on an unlucky streak, and said: "Right now, everything is going wrong for me - if fell in a barrel of boobs, I'd come out sucking my thumb."

We're obsessed with the idea of luck.

It's why there are so many phrases that include it.
