ALEXANDER SMITH always knew heading to the Rock would help give him a solid foundation for taking his first steps in senior football.

The exciting Rangers kid made the loan switch to Dumbarton last month.

The Sons are scrapping for survival in League Two but an impressive, unbeaten run in the last four games has moved them clear of the relegation playoff spot.

The Scotland Under-19 cap, who is on international duty next week, is looking to help push Frank McKeown's team further up the league and to safety.

Smith said: "It has been good. I've adjusted well.
