MIYU YAMASHITA was thrilled to write her name into Women’s Open history after holding off a strong challenge from Charley Hull to win her first Major.
The Japanese ace carded a final-round 70 in blustery conditions to win by two shots on 11 under par at Royal Porthcawl.
Hull, three strokes behind on six under overnight, boosted her hopes of glory as she picked up five birdies in a stretch of 10 holes either side of the turn.
