Cancer-fight soap icon dies at 68
HE was only supposed to act in six episodes but Dean Sullivan, who has died at 68 following a battle with prostate cancer, made Brookside his own.
His character, drug dealer Jimmy Corkhill, became so popular that he ended up being the longest serving member of the soap, starting in 1986 and lasting until its demise in 2003.
The Liverpudlian star, who was a key part of the gripping body-under-thepatio storyline, even tried to buy the set when it was up for sale in 2008.
Announcing his death, Dean's family and management said: "To millions he was and very much still is remembered as 'Jimmy', to family and friends he was 'Dino"."
