Who doesn't like at least one of Stereophonics’ dozen hits? The Welsh-born soft-rockers may not enjoy the seismic fandom of contemporaries like Coldplay or Snow Patrol, but Have A Nice Day, top five in 2001, hogged every radio that summer.

Hitless soft-rockers remain pure class

Handbags And Gladrags, another top five, eclipsed the original late-sixties versions by Chris Farlowe and Rod Stewart, and Maybe Tomorrow, top three in 2003, was like a despairing John Lennon song sung by an eternally-hopeful Paul McCartney. However, their only Number One single, Dakota, was in 2005 and the two decades since have produced no further hits of note.
