In a bid to improve online safety, under 16s in Australia have been banned from social media such as Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, X and Facebook, which kicked in this month. You say...

THE problem with restricting under 16s from using social media is the door has been wide open for too long and most of them probably know more about computers than their parents. The big issue in Australia will be how they can enforce this restriction.

It would have made more sense to have fresh, junior versions of social media that are set at different age limits so they are more suitable, rather than a controversial blanket ban.

There would still be a need for age identification but it would be a positive vetting as they move up through the ages.
