Rate could double that of 70s as charities urge national plan
MORE than six million new cancer cases could be diagnosed in England by 2040, charities warn.
It is projected that by then we will have rates of twice that of the 1970s.
One Cancer Voice, a coalition of 60 charities, is now calling on the government to set a new earlier diagnosis target. It also wants the introduction of strong prevention policies to ensure England is a world leader in tackling cancer in future years.
From the start of 2025 to the end 2040 there will be around 6.3 million new cancer cases, figures say.
