Grooming gang boss worked as welfare officer in shamed council

THE boss of a grooming gang was employed by a council as a welfare rights officer.
Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of one sex gang in Rochdale, is now serving a 22-year jail sentence.
He was employed by Oldham Council as a welfare rights officer and seconded to the Oldham Pakistani Community Centre.
The shocking revelation comes as victims of grooming gangs in Oldham have received official apologies after a report said police and the council failed to protect youngsters from sexual exploitation.
