Mikel keeps faith despite Anfield setback
MIKEL MERINO is confident Arsenal can still do “big things” this season.
Liverpool consigned the Gunners to their first defeat of the season in Sunday’s showdown at Anfield to dent the Gunners’ belief that they can overhaul Arne Slot's reigning champions in this season's title race.
They entertain Nottingham Forest and Manchester City after the international break — Premier League encounters that sandwich a Champions League opener at Athletic Bilbao.
But, after wins against Manchester United and Leeds in their opening two games, Merino says Arsenal are stronger this season after a £250million summer spend.
The Gunners midfielder said: “We are a different squad, but the mentality of the team is that we can do big things. We are ready to take that next step.
