Queen’s reception for famous females
THE Queen met a host of famous women yesterday as she celebrated females “who refuse to take no for an answer” at a lavish Buckingham Palace reception.
Actresses Sarah Lancashire, Ruth Jones and Meera Syal, barrister and ex-PM’s wife Cherie Blair, TV presenter Sandi Toksvig and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham were among the guests.
They were invited to mark the 15th anniversary of Women of the World (WOW), an organisation which promotes gender equality globally.
Camilla, president of WOW, spoke of her pride in being involved with the movement in a speech.
