Decision due on homes plan for Hoover site
Cynon Valley Leader
|January 08, 2026
PLANS for a “new neighbourhood” including 441 homes on the former Hoover site in Merthyr Tydfil are set to be decided this week.
The idea for the site in Pentrebach also includes 1.5 hectares of employment land and shops.
There are also plans for financial and professional services, food and drink, a community heat hub, a metro station and transport hub.
The factory operated from 1948 until 2009, and is now designated as brownfield. The site is 1.3km from the town centre and is approximately 15.93 hectares, including the factory site, a former car park and an area formerly used as a pumping station.
There were five representations from the public which support the development in principle but highlight concerns.
