Silent struggle of the unemployed during the festive season
Cape Argus
|December 09, 2025
AS THE festive season approaches, many people are getting ready to celebrate by planning their gift lists, their menus and the colour scheme for their dinner table.
On the other end of the same coin, lies the lives of the unemployed. The one’s who will be declining dinner invites because they can’t afford a gift for everyone. These are the guys that won't attend your bring and share lunches because they don’t have anything to bring along with them.
These unemployed people are currently reading this column, dreading December because even though they have every reason to have the opportunity to unwind just like everyone else, they can't because they are too concerned about work and about the New Year that lies ahead.
